IAS officer Tina Dabi, who topped the 2015 UPSC exam, was seen in action during a cleanliness inspection in Barmer. Recently appointed as the District Collector, Dabi has initiated a campaign called “Navo Barmer” aimed at making the district cleaner and more beautiful. During her inspection, she sternly warned shopkeepers that their shops could face fines or even closure if they failed to maintain cleanliness standards.

Warning to Shopkeepers During Inspection

In videos that surfaced on social media, Tina Dabi was seen visiting Kisan Market, where she reprimanded shopkeepers for improper waste disposal. Addressing one shopkeeper, she said, “You all are throwing things in the drain and here and there. I will get this shop closed…This is not a place to throw garbage.” She urged the shop owners to place dustbins in front of their shops, emphasizing that cleaning their surroundings was not shameful.

Strict Instructions on Waste Disposal

In another instance, Dabi confronted a shopkeeper who was dumping garbage into a drain, which could lead to blockages. Speaking into a microphone, she called him out, saying, “This man is number one in spreading garbage.” She instructed the shopkeeper to buy a dustbin within 24 hours, warning that failure to do so would result in a ₹500 fine and possible shop closure.

12-Hour Cleanliness Campaign

Dabi’s efforts are part of a broader 12-hour cleanliness campaign. According to a report by News18, she also oversaw the removal of large amounts of garbage from the roadside using JCB machines, reinforcing her commitment to a cleaner Barmer. Her message to the community was clear: maintaining cleanliness is a collective responsibility, and violations will not be tolerated.
