THE ART OF ENGAGING THE SENSES

The scion of the Jubbal family of Himachal Pradesh, Diviya Jubbal is a life coach who helps individuals and corporates find their inner zen. A much respected spiritual thinker, she shares with The Daily Guardian her views on the awakening of the senses, the ‘gyanendriyas’.

THE ART OF ENGAGING THE SENSES

The sensory world is a cauldron of delights and horrors and some in-between confusion filters in from time to time. Whatever we receive intellectually, it happens through our sense faculties or gyanendriya. The term actually comes from the Sanskrit word Pancha Gyanendriya or Jnanendriya.  Pancha means “five”,  jnana means “awareness”, and  indriya  means “sense” or “organ”. All our knowledge of the physical world is received by the sense faculties and transmitted to the intellect. We see with our eyes, we smell with our nose, we touch with our skin, taste with our tongue and hear with our ears. This is how we understand our relationship with the other being/object and make a blueprint of our understanding to decode. Then there are worlds beyond, constructs of matter that haven’t been given a name but they are real and very much out there. The point is there are other realms, other entities and the ignorant human mind likes to keep itself safe and living in a bubble of its supremacy where things unknown are best not acknowledged. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. However, we will delve into that world in due course. So, we will explore our world for now. The world we live in has three dimensions of space — length, width and depth, and of course the dimension of time.

Physicists hope that one day everything will be explained and that explanation will come forth with more advent on the string theory, the theory of everything. So the theory says, in the universe, each string is tiny, nothing more than a point-like particle, but each string vibrates with different modes, the same way you get different notes out of a guitar string. Each vibration mode is thought to relate to a different kind of particle.

So if we take the examples of human beings, each one of us is made of a vibration that in turn is a combination of so many different modes, our thoughts create vibrations, our belief systems have vibrations.

The combinations are so edgy and complex. You can be a collector of beautiful chiffon sarees, who knows the Bhagavad Gita, inside out, an ardent fan of harry potter with a huge appetite for ghee roast prawns and a penchant for maritime weather. However when you meet someone on a dating app for example, or through a common friend who is trying to set you up, keeping in mind all your interests have been so synchronised, you would think you would get along like a house on fire. You’re chatting away, sitting on a table with a nice paisley print table cloth, a hot frothy cappuccino, the mist fogging up the window pane and the fresh fragrance of roses and the rain, waiting for that electric connect to happen. Well, the show’s over, time to get the bill, you say your goodbyes, but there’s this sense of a lingering emptiness you carry back in the car with you, along with the carrot cake in your takeaway bag. What went wrong, it seemed so ideal on paper? The algorithms for subtle thought frequencies are not an obvious observation. In what was not said, maybe a lot was lost. There are thoughts, experiences, memories, and emotions that we carry which are absolutely the opposite of what is projected to society at large. So, you may curate a delectable persona but if internally you’re a warp and weft of patterns that may be concealed to the eye, but in the higher realms of consciousness these sparks won’t really fly.

To put it simply it all boils down to the law of vibration, according to this, the universe is made up of pure energy and it is in constant vibration. This applies to animate and inanimate objects as well. The vibrational law also talks about how energy transfer happens between people and things. So, all your life you heard the pandit talking about what stone for which finger, he’s talking about you absorbing the energy from the stone. Stones have their own story to tell and once on your finger will their story soothe your story or create further havoc. This is a separate conversation altogether. However, telepathy, thoughts and feelings connect you to your recipient. It’s happened to me so many times, this telepathy with people that, when I was a little girl, I actually believed I had the power to ring a magic bell in the sky which made the person I was thinking about will call me. How this works is that they are electric signals our brains transfer to the person we are thinking about. I literally get an image of the person who is about to call me, a split second before the call actually comes through. Not every single time but often enough for me to think about that magic switch somewhere in the clouds. These signals are recorded by electronic devices that sense the change in electrical currents in brain cells on activation. Electroencephalography (EEG) has been used a fair bit to understand telepathy studies. The involvement of scientific methodology is necessary for those uninitiated into the realm of the metaphysical. There are worlds of a different kind of surreal magic, we would end up calling it that, as anything out of the human experience takes on a giant question mark around it. We have been conditioned to think in a certain way and it’s hard for us to grasp and accept anything beyond the norm.

Let’s say, you are in a household where there is volatility and aggression, keeping the law of energy transfer in mind, you will absorb the energy in the house regardless. Everything you experience at that moment occurs because we are surrounded by our own personal force field, and the insides of our bodies contain electrical generators that they use to send signals through our bodies.

Virtually every single process which is keeping you alive can be traced back to an electric field that some component of your body is creating. So, when you’re praying or in meditation, you are creating a very positive field of energy around you. However, when there is chaos and disharmony in your environment, the negative energy is equally potent.

These are dark and low vibration emotions and they will drain you and lower your vitality and immunity. How does one protect oneself from things we cannot control. Let’s try and understand how powerful energy medicine really is. The potential of electromagnetic light and sound interventions are being explored to heal the anatomy. The body is a total of light, sound, and electromagnetic frequencies.

Instead of lathering ones elf with vials of allopathy only; a chemical bath literally, why not try a sound bath? In some cases, allopathy is really required but a combination of that with alternative energy medicine is worth dwelling on.
