As the annual Kanwar Yatra approaches, Delhi is set to deploy advanced technological measures to ensure safety and streamline logistics during the event, which commences on July 22. With over 5,000 police personnel and 700 vehicles mobilized across the city, preparations are in full swing to manage the influx of Kanwariyas.
Key camps have been strategically established in Shahdara and Northeast districts, equipped with metal detectors and bag checks at sensitive locations. The route through these districts will be divided into zones to facilitate better monitoring, ensuring smooth movement of devotees and preventing congestion.
In a significant technological upgrade, more than 300 CCTV cameras will be installed along the route, complemented by drone surveillance to monitor critical areas effectively. These measures aim to bolster security and provide real-time monitoring capabilities, enhancing overall safety management.
A dedicated communication network will facilitate seamless coordination among law enforcement agencies, enabling quick responses to any emergencies that may arise. Furthermore, traffic diversions will be implemented at major border points and key roads like Rani Jhansi Road and NH-8 to manage traffic flow and minimize disruptions during the yatra.
DCP officials from Shahdara and Northeast districts have conducted meetings with stakeholders to ensure all necessary measures are in place for a safe and organized Kanwar Yatra. The preparations also include altering routes for heavy commercial vehicles to mitigate potential traffic congestion.
The Kanwar Yatra, a significant religious pilgrimage, draws devotees from across the country who undertake the journey to fetch holy water from the Ganges. With these advanced technological interventions, authorities aim to uphold security standards and ensure a smooth experience for all participants during this revered event.
