Indian cricket fans are in fervor as the national team advances to the T20 World Cup final with a resounding victory over England, reigniting hopes of claiming their first major title in 17 years. Despite cricket’s immense popularity in India, marked by the IPL’s prominence, the country has not secured a major tournament win since the Champions Trophy in 2013. Last year’s close defeat in the 50-over World Cup final added to the nation’s longing for a triumph.

The semifinal match saw India dominating defending champions England, securing a commanding 68-run victory after skipper Rohit Sharma’s pivotal innings of 57 runs set the stage. Left-arm spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel starred with three wickets each, restricting England to a modest 103 all out.

Ahead of Saturday’s final against South Africa in Barbados, fans across India are brimming with anticipation. “The excitement has reached its peak,” remarked Pritam Kumar Sinha, a passionate cricket enthusiast from Patna, underscoring the widespread optimism. College student Varsha Sinha from New Delhi echoed the sentiment, expressing eagerness for India’s unbeaten streak to continue.

Indian Minister Nitin Gadkari lauded the team’s performance as “stellar,” extending best wishes for the final match. Social media platforms buzzed with support as fans rallied behind Team India, anticipating a historic victory to cap off Rahul Dravid’s tenure as coach.
