Led by Rohit Sharma, the 2007 champions will now face South Africa in the summit clash, who earlier beat Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final. Batting first after being asked to, India posted a total of 171 for 7 in their 20 overs, anchored by crucial innings from Rohit Sharma (57 off 39) and Suryakumar Yadav (47 off 36).
The duo’s partnership of 73 runs steadied India after they were 40 for 2 in 5.2 overs. In the second innings, Axar Patel starred with the ball, claiming figures of 3 for 23, while Kuldeep Yadav also contributed with 3 for 19, restricting England’s chase effectively.
