The ‘Bharat Bandh’ organized by pro-quota groups in response to a Supreme Court ruling on sub-classification led to police baton-charging protesters in Bihar and road and rail blockages in various states. Despite these disruptions, normal life remained largely unaffected across the country. The protests were more intense in Dalit and tribal areas. The nationwide strike was initiated by 21 Dalit organizations.
