Suresh Raina Names India’s ‘X’ Factor in T20 World Cup: “Can Add 25-30 Runs More”

As Rohit Sharma and the Indian cricket team gear up for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA, their focus intensifies. The tournament kicks off on Sunday, with India scheduled to face Ireland in New York on June 5. Before the main event, a warm-up match against Bangladesh awaits the team on Saturday at Nassau County, New York.

With a talented squad of 15 players selected, India faces the challenge of crafting a balanced XI, especially considering the playing conditions in the US. One major point of interest is the opening partnership, with speculation on whether Virat Kohli will join Rohit Sharma at the top.

Kohli’s standout performance in the IPL, scoring 741 runs in 15 matches as an opener, has sparked discussions. However, the emergence of Yashasvi Jaiswal adds complexity to the selection process. Jaiswal’s roller-coaster IPL journey, including 435 runs and a century, adds to the dilemma.

While some advocate for the Rohit-Kohli opening duo, former all-rounder Suresh Raina suggests Kohli should maintain his No. 3 position, with Jaiswal partnering Rohit at the top. Raina emphasizes Kohli’s consistency and Jaiswal’s form as factors in his opinion.

Raina also underscores the importance of including Shivam Dube in the playing XI, citing his ability to score crucial runs with powerful hitting. Dube’s presence, according to Raina, adds a significant advantage, potentially securing an extra 20-30 runs for the team. However, Raina acknowledges the tough decisions ahead for captain Rohit Sharma, especially if Jaiswal secures a spot in the XI, potentially leaving Dube out.
