The star Badminton duo of India, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have once again gained their top spot in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) Rankings after their win in Thailand Open last week.
The Gold Medalist pair of Asian games, have once again, emerged as winners in the men’s doubles title at Thailand Open Super 500 badminton, defeating China’s Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi in straight sets on sunday.
Thus, bagging another Thailand Open title since 2019.
As per the latest rankings, fondly called sat-chi has climbed up to two spots, effectively regaining top rank with 99,670 points.
The world number Three duo have managed to go past Chen and Yi with score of 21-15 21-15. Thus, clinching their 9th BWF world tour title. Which is their second title of the year after French Open.
Talking about winning the title, Satwik expressed a lot of jubilation and happiness, saying,
“Thailand Open has been a special tournament for us as we won our first Super 500 crown here and have won many more tournaments thereafter. We are hoping that this victory will start another winning run for us. said Satwik Rankireddy.
Later, speaking about the game, satwik announced, they played their best game.
Recounting his experience, he said
“We knew that we could not relax even for a single point against our opponents as they fight till the end. But we played our best game of the tournament today and controlled the situation very well.” added satwik.
Meanwhile, the other Indian pair Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa,also made it to semifinal of the Thailand open.
As a result, they have climbed up to two spots and reached the number 19.
