In the IPL 2024 final showdown, Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious over Sunrisers Hyderabad, claiming the title with an emphatic eight-wicket win. Opting to bat first, SRH endured a dismal outing, being bundled out for a mere 113 runs. Andre Russell and Mitchell Starc led KKR’s bowling attack, snatching three and two wickets respectively.

In response, KKR chased down the target in just 10.3 overs, securing their third IPL trophy in style. While jubilant celebrations erupted in the KKR camp, the atmosphere in the SRH camp was somber, with team owner Kavya Maran visibly distraught, shedding tears of disappointment. Maran, known for her unwavering support for SRH, left many fans disheartened with her emotional display.

As footage of Maran’s tears circulated on social media, it sparked a flurry of memes and reactions. Despite the defeat, some fans took to the platform to express their sympathy and apologize for SRH’s performance.

Reflecting on the match, SRH skipper Pat Cummins credited KKR’s exceptional bowling performance, particularly praising Starc’s impactful contribution. Cummins acknowledged that SRH fell short and were thoroughly outplayed, attributing their struggles to KKR’s relentless bowling attack. He highlighted the challenging nature of the wicket and lamented SRH’s inability to post a competitive total, stating that a score of 160 would have kept them in contention.

Despite the disappointment of the loss, Cummins commended his team’s efforts throughout the season, particularly acknowledging the contributions of senior players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as well as the abundance of young talent in the squad. He expressed gratitude towards the support staff and reflected on the unique experience of playing in India, amidst the backdrop of fervent fan support.
