Six-year-old succumbs to cold wave in Punjab

The relentless cold wave has claimed its third young victim within a month in Punjab as six-year-old Kuldeep Singh succumbed to the illness on Wednesday.
The son of Aala Singh of Pakhho Kalan, Barnala, Kuldeep was a first-grade student at the government primary school. The tragedy triggered concerns about the impact of the cold wave on students across the state. Previously, two students from government schools in Amritsar had lost their lives due to the harsh weather conditions.

Kuldeep fell ill due to the intense cold. He was given initial treatment in the village. His condition, however, worsened, and he was transferred to the Civil Hospital in Barnala where doctors declared him dead.
Kuldeep leaves behind two brothers and two sisters.
School principal Navdeep Sharma and staff express profound condolences.
As the Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert until January 28, there is a growing call from parents and teachers for declaring school holidays to protect children from the harsh weather conditions.
