The manufacturers of India’s first triple cask single malt, Indri Single Malt Whisky, Piccadily Distilleries, have reached an impressive milestone that highlights India’s standing in the world spirits industry. An exceptional accomplishment for the brand and the country, Indri-Trini has been hailed as the “fastest growing single malt whisky in the world ever.”

Within just two years of its introduction, Single Malt Whisky Indri has surpassed the 100,000 cases milestone, making it the fastest-growing single malt whisky globally, as stated in a press release by the company.

“In a market once dominated by imported labels, Indri stands tall as a beacon of Indian excellence. It’s not just a brand; it’s a symbol of national pride, elevating the status of Indian spirits to unparalleled heights,” remarked Praveen Malviya, CEO of Piccadily Distilleries.

With a growth rate of 599% compared to the previous year, Indri, under the ownership of Piccadily Distilleries, claims to hold over 30% of the market share in India.

The brand has ambitious expansion plans, aiming to secure a spot among the top five-selling single malt whiskies globally.

No other single malt whisky, whether from Scotland, Japan, Taiwan, or elsewhere, has managed to achieve the 100,000 cases milestone within just two years of its launch. With this remarkable accomplishment, Indri-Trini has not only surpassed expectations but has also earned a coveted position among the elite club of top-selling single malt whiskies worldwide.

The extraordinary ascent of Indri reflects a significant shift in consumer preferences towards premium spirits. Indian single malt whiskies have outpaced their Scottish counterparts, registering a staggering 144% surge in sales in 2021-22, with momentum continuing to grow. Early estimates from the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) indicate that Indian single malts commanded an impressive 53% of total sales in 2023, outstripping imported brands.
