A 62-year-old Shiv Sena (UBT) polling agent was discovered dead at a polling booth in the Worli area of South Mumbai on Monday, during the fifth and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, according to the police.
The deceased, identified as Manohar Nalge, was a resident of the BDD chawl in Worli.
Police reported that the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Nalge was found unconscious in the polling booth’s toilet. He was quickly taken to KEM hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 5:45 PM.
Nalge had reportedly complained of uneasiness and discomfort before going to the washroom.
“His post-mortem is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the death,” a police officer stated.
Workers from the Sena (UBT) criticized the Election Commission for not providing adequate facilities at polling centers throughout the city.
