Mumbai police’s crime branch arrested a scrap dealer in Navi Mumbai on Sunday in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The suspect, identified as Bhagwat Singh Om Singh (32), originally from Udaipur, Rajasthan, allegedly supplied the weapon used by the attackers who killed Siddique on October 12. This brings the total number of people arrested in the case to 10.

Singh was presented in a local court and has been remanded to police custody until October 26. Baba Siddique was shot dead by three attackers outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office. So far, police have arrested two of the shooters: Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap (19). However, the primary shooter, Shivkumar Gautam, and two others involved in the conspiracy remain at large.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder.

Earlier, police arrested five individuals who provided logistical support to the killers. These men—Nitin Gautam Sapre (32), Sambhaji Kisan Pardhi (44), Pradeep Dattu Thombre (37), Chetan Dilip Pardhi, and Ram Fulchand Kanoujia (43)—allegedly conducted surveillance of Siddique’s office prior to the attack. According to police, the Sapre-led group initially demanded ₹50 lakh for the hit, but a disagreement over the contract led to them backing out of the deal.
