In a move that has further intensified the already charged political atmosphere in Haryana, BJP leader and cabinet minister JP Dalal’s recent controversial statement that the BJP would not allow any other party to govern Haryana for more than six months has become the focal point of a heated political debate.
A video of JP Dalal making the statement went viral on social media platforms, evoking immediate response from the Congress party.
Addressing a gathering, Dalal declared that regardless of the election outcome, the BJP would not allow any other party to govern Haryana for more than six months. “Our government will be formed in Haryana. But if, by any chance, it doesn’t happen—even if God himself turns against us—our leaders in Delhi will ensure that any government formed here won’t last more than six months,” Dalal stated, in a video that has since gone viral on social media.
Dalal’s remarks, which many interpret as a direct threat to democracy, have drawn sharp criticism from the opposition. Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Babariya was quick to react, demanding Dalal’s immediate resignation. Babariya lambasted the BJP, accusing the party of conspiring to subvert the democratic process.
“Dalal’s comments are not just undemocratic; they are treasonous. The BJP must distance itself from such statements, demand Dalal’s resignation, expel him from the party”, he added.
Also reacting to the statement, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that Dalal’s statement reveals that he has already accepted the defeat.
Meanwhile, Dalal also accused Hooda of promoting nepotism and regionalism during the Congress regime, saying, “Hooda was chief minister for ten years. If he had even a little affection for us (Bhiwani), he would have found some time to visit. Hooda Saheb does not consider Loharu as a part of Haryana. Some people think that if they come to power, they will loot everything”
Dalal further added, “Hooda wants to make his son the Chief Minister and end the dominance of Bhiwani. But the people of Bhiwani will not lose to those from Rohtak. We have witnessed the leadership of Chaudhary Bansi Lal since childhood”.
