Sachin Pilot criticised the allocation of lakhs of crores of rupees to two states, claiming it was done to further political interests rather than genuine needs. While he expressed no opposition to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, he emphasised that such funding should not be politically motivated. He argued that without understanding how many individuals have not benefited, it becomes challenging to formulate effective policies. He concluded that a caste census is essential for informed policy intervention.
Talking about the conflict in Haryana and Rajasthan over roadways buses, he said that this is just a small example.
“Where all are the conflicts happening. It is happening in power. It is happening in the organisation. There is a BJP government in both the places, yet people are suffering losses. The public is burdened. The central government is yours. The Rajasthan government is yours, the Haryana government is yours. Then whom will you blame. If there is no coordination among themselves,” he said.
Pilot said that there are many such issues where there is no coordination among the state governments.
“An MoU has been signed between Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, but no one has been able to see the MoU till date. The announcement has been made, sweets have been distributed, but no one knows what is written in the MoU. When the government is yours, then why do you want to hide the truth from the people. The government has not been able to answer this,” he said.
Pilot criticised the BJP government for prioritising the renaming of roads and institutions while neglecting substantive public service. He accused the ruling party of using the cow as a political tool to garner votes without providing transparency on expenditures related to cow protection and conservation.
“The Congress government has always prioritised public service and genuinely worked towards the protection of cows,” Pilot stated.
He emphasised that the current administration focuses on speeches rather than concrete actions, suggesting that their approach revolves around gaining electoral support under the guise of cow and religious issues, without delivering tangible benefits to the public.
Sachin Pilot said that people are tired.
“They have made up their mind against BJP. Now the countdown to 2029 has started. The government is not able to answer the questions in the tone with which Rahul Gandhi has held the government accountable after becoming the leader of the opposition. I.N.D.I.A. alliance and we are fighting the elections together.
There are elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. Our government is going to be formed there. Priyanka Gandhi is contesting the Wayanad by-election. There are by-elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. We will win the elections with a good majority,” he said.
Pilot said that the election in Haryana has been held.
“Questions are being raised on it. I do not want to go into that. But people wanted change, for some reason it could not be accomplished in Haryana. There are many reasons for this. Our defeated candidates are also going to the court. They are also going to the Election Commission. That is a process, but it does not mean that people are not tired of BJP. People have made up their mind to stand with the Congress. As far as I.N.D.I.A. alliance is concerned, it was strong before and is strong even today. In seat sharing, we move forward with mutual agreement. Everyone moves forward after talking and discussing. Our aim is to defeat BJP and NDA.”
He announced his visit to Marathwada on Tuesday, stating that the entire Congress leadership will campaign together in areas where elections are being held. Discussing the Rajasthan by-elections, he expressed confidence in their strength across all seven constituencies, declaring, “We will win the elections.”
While acknowledging that every election poses challenges, he noted that this election highlights the public’s growing disillusionment with the government.
Pilot pointed out the achievements in initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission and rural development, but also mentioned the financial crisis impacting governance. He criticised the current administration for internal conflicts, with bureaucrats and leaders pulling in different directions, leaving the public caught in the middle and suffering as a result.
“This is a critical test for the BJP government,” he emphasised, urging them to reflect on their governance and provide details of their accomplishments over the past year.
He called for transparency regarding the MoUs worth Rs14 lakh crore that have reportedly been signed, questioning how many of these agreements will be implemented, as he noted similar promises made by former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Pilot asserted that if BJP leaders believe they can win based solely on their governance record, they are mistaken. He confidently stated that Congress will emerge victorious in all seven seats.
