Russian Forces Disrupt Ukrainian Rail And Transport Infrastructure, Intensify Attacks

Russian forces disrupted power and water supplies in Ukrainian towns, including Pokrovsk, amid ongoing battlefield advances in the east. Moscow’s intensified attacks aim to capture strategic areas, while the U.S. accuses Iran of supplying missiles to Russia. Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions despite increasing Russian pressure.

Russian forces have severely disrupted infrastructure in Ukraine, targeting a crucial rail hub in northern Ukraine and severing water supplies to the eastern town of Pokrovsk. This disruption is part of Russia’s broader strategy to advance in the Donbas region amid ongoing conflict.

Critical Infrastructure Targeted

On Thursday, Russian attacks knocked out power and water to Konotop, a key rail hub in Sumy region, causing significant damage to energy infrastructure. The overnight drone attack resulted in at least 14 injuries and left the town’s power system in critical condition. Rescuers are working to restore electricity and water supply, but the situation remains dire.

Russian Forces Press Forward Despite Setbacks

In the east, Russian forces have been gaining ground around Pokrovsk, a strategically significant town in Donetsk region. The recent attacks have severed water and electricity supplies, prompting local officials to urge civilians to evacuate. Despite slowing momentum near Pokrovsk, Russia continues to press southward, closing in on Ukrainsk.

Ukrainian Counteroffensive and Ongoing Drone Attacks

In response to Russian advances, Ukraine launched a surprise incursion into Russia’s Kursk region last month, making initial gains. Russian forces have since counterattacked, claiming control of several settlements. Meanwhile, Russia’s broader campaign of drone strikes continues to target Ukrainian infrastructure, with over 60 drones deployed in recent attacks.

The conflict, now more than two years old, has seen both sides engaging in intensified military actions, with Ukraine attempting to leverage drone technology and strategic incursions to counter Russian pressure.
