Amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, 10-story residential building has been partially collapsed in Russia’s southwestern city of Belgorod on Monday. Killing at least 15 people.

According to the report, the building collapsed following the May 12th Ukrainian attack.

As per the video posted by Belgorod’s Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, a collapsed building was shown, which had a large hole in it.

“Following direct shell fire on a residential building… the entire entrance, from the tenth to the ground floor, collapsed said Gladkov while condemning massive bombings” by Ukrainian army.

How It Happened? 

Meanwhile as reported by Russian agency TASS, the Ukrainian army shelled Belgorod and its suburbs on May 12,

As a result, fragments of downed Tochka-U tactical missile managed to inflict the damage to a 10-storey residential building, thus causing the collapse of one of the sections.

Later, Russian defence ministry also disclosed, that air defences had shot down several rockets over Belgorod region. And two drones, that were destroyed in a different incident.

The Casualties 

Coming to the casualties, all 15 bodies have been recovered from the rubble. Rescuers too have found another body.

As further revealed by the Russian Emergency Ministry’s spokesperson, the search & rescue operations at the collapse site have been completed.

“The search and rescue operations and debris removal in the city of Belgorod have been completed…. seventeen people were rescued and unfortunately, we have recovered 15 bodies from under the rubble.” said Russia’s emergency spokesperson.

Earlier, the emergency ministry announced that 12 people including two children were also rescued from the site.

However, Ukraine military has not yet commented or acknowledged the alleged attack inflicted on Russia.
