During a bilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar addressed the pressing issue of Indians stranded in the Ukraine conflict zone. Jaishankar conveyed India’s strong objections to the involvement of Indian citizens with the Russian Army, stressing that such circumstances are unacceptable.
“We seek their cooperation as our friend and partner,” Jaishankar emphasized, seeking swift measures for the safe repatriation of these individuals to India. He underscored the ongoing dialogue between India’s Foreign Ministry and Russia’s Defence Ministry, aimed at ensuring the safe return of all affected Indians.

Lavrov appreciated India’s concerns and pledged to support efforts for a resolution. Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to pursue the matter until all Indians in the Ukraine conflict zone are safely returned home.
The situation remains critical as diplomatic efforts continue to facilitate the return of Indian nationals from the war-torn region.
