Saudi Arabia has made a historic entry into the esteemed Miss Universe pageant for the first time in 2024, with model Rumy Alqahtani representing the kingdom as its inaugural contestant. Alqahtani announced her participation in the international beauty competition via an Instagram post, expressing her honor at being part of Miss Universe 2024.
“Honoured to participate in Miss Universe 2024. This is the first participation of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe competition,” shared the model.

Who is Rumy Alqahtani?
Rumy Alqahtani, a 27-year-old model and content creator from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has actively portrayed her representation as a model and her accomplishments on various social media platforms. With a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry, she is fluent in Arabic, French, and English, and enjoys traveling and exploring new destinations worldwide, sharing her experiences on her social media pages.
With over 1 million followers on Instagram, Alqahtani has garnered numerous prestigious titles in the pageant realm. She has previously represented Saudi Arabia in various international competitions, including Miss Asia in Malaysia, Miss Arab Peace, and Miss Europe, and now adds the Miss Universe pageant as the kingdom’s first-ever contestant, as reported by Gulf Today.
In addition to being crowned Miss Saudi Arabia, she holds titles such as Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), Miss Arab World Peace 2021, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia).
The upcoming Miss Universe 2024 will mark the 73rd edition of the renowned pageant, scheduled to take place in Mexico on September 18, 2024. Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, the current Miss Universe titleholder, will pass on her crown to the next Miss Universe during the event.
