Producer Jackky Bhagnani expressed his excitement about the re-release, sharing in a note from his team, “This film holds a very special place in my heart, as it was my first project as an Assistant Director. At the time, I was young and had the amazing chance to work closely with Maddy, Saif, and Dia on set.” He continued, “Witnessing such talented performers and being part of what became a cult classic was truly inspiring. The film remains popular with the youth, thanks to its timeless melodies, and we’re thrilled to bring it back for audiences to enjoy.”

Released in 2001, RHTDM was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and was a remake of his Tamil film Minnale, which also came out that year. A few years ago, there were rumors about a potential sequel. However, in 2020, R Madhavan dismissed these rumors on Twitter, stating he was unaware of any sequel plans. He humorously noted that both he and co-star Dia Mirza were much older now compared to when the original film was released, and joked about hoping for a script that suits their age if a sequel were to happen.

Dia Mirza made her Bollywood debut with this film, and its popular songs like “Sach Keh Raha Hai,” “Dil Ko Tumse,” and “Zara Zara” continue to be cherished by fans.
