Congress Prez Polls: Rahul Gandhi casts his vote

Rahul Gandhi is occupied with the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka. The Congress MP cast his vote to elect the new Congress president in Karnataka’s Ballari on Monday.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra is a 3500 km yatra from Kaniyakumari to Kashmir. It was a “rest day” on the 40th day of the march in Sanganakallu since its commencement on September 7. Rahul Gandhi voted for the Congress President’s post at the campsite.

According to information from the Congress Twitter account, the Wayanad MP and the other 40 delegates from the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) are expected to cast their votes at a designated booth while participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Congress interim Sonia Gandhi, party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cast their votes for the next president of the Congress party.

The party’s presidential election voting started today at 10 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. On October 19, results will be made public. Over 9,000 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates, who make up the electoral college for choosing the party leader, will determine the fate of the Congress party.
At the AICC office in Delhi, P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh, and other party officials from the Congress have also voted at the AICC office.

Talking about the contestants for the next Congress president post, party leaders Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge are face-to-face in the contest.

Shashi Tharoor, a congressman from Thiruvananthapuram, who will face Mallikarjun Kharge, a seasoned party member, for the position of Congress president on Monday, claimed that regardless of the result, the party’s revival had already begun and that the party’s future was in the hands of its members.
Although he realised the chances were against him, Tharoor claimed he was convinced he would win the poll.
