Russia has turned over 11 children to Ukraine through Qatar’s mediation, marking a critical moment in family reunification efforts, according to a Russia-based TASS report.
The handover took place in the Qatari Embassy in Moscow, presided over by the Ambassador of Qatar Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani, and Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, according to TASS.

While expressing gratitude for Qatar’s role in the process, Lvova-Belova stated “Today we handed over 11 children, this is the largest group, each has its own story.”
“There are two children with disabilities. I want to express my great gratitude to the Qatari Embassy, and to you personally for organizing the process,” she added.

According to TASS, Ambassador Al-Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to protecting children’s rights and thanked the Russian government for its aid. He emphasized the long-standing fruitful partnership between Russia and Qatar, citing backing from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Ambassador Al-Thani remarked, “Qatar always tries to protect the rights of children. “We want to thank you for your work. We thank the Russian side for assistance.”
We will continue our efforts in this direction. “We thank Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Our relations are developing productively,” he added.”

The smooth handover of the children is a concerted effort to ensure the safety and reuniting of families afflicted by conflict and displacement.
The diplomatic endeavor emphasizes the necessity of international collaboration in responding to humanitarian disasters and protecting children’s rights in difficult situations.

As Russia and Qatar reaffirm their commitment to establishing beneficial relations, the children’s transfer exemplifies the global endeavor to promote peace, stability, and compassion.

The event is a key milestone in the ongoing efforts to solve the complex difficulties that vulnerable groups confront, and it emphasizes the value of collaboration and empathy in creating a more inclusive and compassionate world.
