Principal expelled schoolgirls for wearing hijab, alleging students

In a recent video that surfaced on the internet, a group of schoolgirls wearing hijabs were expelled by their principal for wearing their traditional attire, the hijab.

This video was reportedly filmed in the Kotwali Dehat area of Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh.

The group of school-going girls featured in the video claimed they were told to leave the school due to their hijabs.

The girls in the video describe how the principal instructed them to remove their hijabs and return with their heads uncovered. They claimed that they were expelled and advised to come back along with their family members.

They further stated that after morning prayers, the principal directed them to wear their hijabs differently and then asked them to leave.

The issue sparked considerable debate on social media following the video. But despite the firing discussion on social media, the school authorities have yet to issue an official statement.

Samajwadi Party leaders and the local Gramme Pradhan visited the school to address the situation. The police were also called to the scene and mediated discussions between the involved parties.

According to the police, the dispute centres around the school’s dress code policies, and the role of law enforcement is limited to maintaining order, with the matter falling under the purview of the education department.
