The nation is commemorating India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War as the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas preparations got underway on Tuesday at Dras in Ladakh. The war memorial is receiving finishing touches in honor of the occasion. Rajnath Singh, the Union Defense Minister, will be the event’s chief guest and will show up on Wednesday morning. He will also honor the jawans who gave their lives in defense of the country.
Meanwhile, today at Lamochen View Point a briefing will be conducted which will showcase an audio and visual narration of the battles which highlight the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army soldiers.
After the orientation of dignitaries to the battleground from Lamochan View Point, ‘VIJAY BHOJ’ comprising of cultural programme and ‘Barakhana’ will be organised at Sando Rear.
Additionally, an army band will play and present national anthems. Following that, energetic local cultural artists will showcase their diverse ethnic heritage through traditional dances, delighting the audience and demonstrating the community’s support for the Indian Army while also honoring the braveheart’s contributions to Operation Vijay. Tuesday will see the laying of wreaths and floral tributes by numerous current and former senior Army officers.
A memorial service and a trip to the Hut of Remembrance, a museum built next to the memorial, will take place after the ceremony. After the customary pipe band and static band display and the Beating Retreat, the event will also feature the lighting of lamps and a prayer service. Every year on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed to honor the bravery and valour of the Kargil war heroes who led Operation Vijay, which resulted in the victory of the Indian Armed Forces.
