The Rajasthan assembly’s proceedings began with Question Hour on Thursday, but Congress MLAs continued their boycott, as they had on Tuesday. Congress MLAs held a sit-in outside the assembly, resulting in their questions not being read during Question Hour. Questions and supplementary questions were raised by BJP and independent MLAs.
Finance Minister Diya Kumari Assures No Plans To Close RGHS Scheme
During Question Hour, MLA Chandrabhan Singh Chauhan asked about the RGHS scheme, questioning whether the government planned to close it. In response, Finance Minister Diya Kumari assured the House that there were no current plans to shut down the RGHS scheme, which provides medical facilities to state government employees and pensioners. She further assured that action would be taken against any drug sellers registered under the scheme who fail to provide medicines.
Law Minister Responds To Proposal For District And Sessions Court In Behror
On another question raised by MLA Jaswant Singh Yadav regarding the establishment of a District and Sessions Court in Behror, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel assured the House that the state government would seriously consider the proposal. He noted that Behror met the necessary criteria for opening the court, citing enough cases in the area and available land and building for the court’s establishment.
Temples to be renovated in Jaisalmer
In response to BJP MLA Chhotu Singh’s question, Deputy Chief Minister and Art, Literature, and Archaeology Minister Diya Kumari assured the House that the state government is committed to preserving cultural heritage. She promised that necessary repair and renovation work would be carried out in the temples and ancient structures of Jaisalmer. Answering a question from Bandikui MLA Bhagchand Takra, Diya Kumari stated that the budget for 2025-26 includes a proposal to develop Abhaneri-Dausa as an iconic tourism destination to promote rural and heritage tourism. She also highlighted that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is carrying out conservation and repair work at the Abhaneri Chand Bawdi and Harshad Mata Temple under the Central Government’s initiative. This effort aims to preserve and enhance these historical sites.
Public Awareness On Misleading Advertisements: Godara
MLA from Rajsamand Dipti Kiran Maheshwari raised the issue related to the prevention of misleading advertisements in the House. In response, Consumer Affairs Minister Sumit Godara said that the government makes consumers aware of their rights through various programmes and publicity like ‘Jago Grahak Jago’ to protect them from fraud and poor-quality goods.
Chhabra MLA Criticises Forest Department’s Reply
BJP MLA from Chhabra, Pratap Singh Singhvi, raised the issue of encroachment on forest land. Singhvi, while objecting to the government’s reply, stated that the answer was incomplete, questioning why a complete answer had not been provided. He said that there is no answer to how much forest land is encroached. He said there was no answer to how much forest land had been encroached upon. Singhvi mentioned that he had been continuously writing letters regarding this encroachment, and when the question was raised in the assembly, orders for action were given on February 25. He expressed concern that forest land worth crores was being encroached upon, and the local administration had not taken action. He questioned the compulsion behind not removing the encroachers and criticised attempts to protect them.
In response, Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma said that notices had been issued to all the occupiers. He explained that this matter dates to 2022, during the Congress government, but the current Bhajan Lal government is working sensitively and with transparency. He assured that no culprit would be spared. The issue of encroachment on forest land in Janchrod, Allapura, Kadaiyachor, and Kadarpura was raised in the Assembly.
Plan To Address Polluted Water In Balotra
MLA Arun Chaudhary raised concerns about polluted water from industrial units in Jodhpur affecting Balotra district. In response, Minister of State for Environment Sanjay Sharma stated that a committee was formed by the District Collector of Jodhpur on February 21, 2025, to investigate the illegal discharge of waste into water sources by industrial units. He assured that strict action would be taken against the guilty units once the committee submits its report. The committee will identify the industrial units responsible for discharging waste into the Jojari river. Additionally, necessary actions will be taken, including photographing and videography of units violating rules by discharging untreated or partially untreated waste into water sources.
