Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at two public rallies on May 24, in Himachal Pradesh that are planned to assist BJP candidates in the districts of Mandi and Sirmaur.
The event at Sirmaur will support BJP candidate and sitting Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap, who is running for re-election. Nahan is within the Shimla Parliamentary constituency.
State BJP president Rajeev Bindal expressed anticipation for Modi’s visit, stating, “PM Modi will address the rally at Chaugan Maidan on May 24. Grand preparations are underway to welcome him. About 40,000 people are likely to come here from the Shimla parliamentary constituency.”
Contrasting the BJP’s optimism, Bindal downplayed the opposition, claiming that the Congress-led alliance is faltering, expected to secure fewer than 50 seats.
The second rally, in Mandi, supports Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, marking her electoral debut. The BJP aims to wrest the seat from Congress, previously held by Pratibha Singh, wife of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, in the 2021 by-elections after the passing of BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
The contest is significant, especially with Vikramaditya Singh, son of Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh, posing a strong challenge to Kangana. Mandi has traditionally been a stronghold of the Virbhadra Singh family, with Virbhadra Singh serving as a three-term MP and Pratibha Singh winning thrice from the Mandi parliamentary constituency.
