Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Kazan airport on Tuesday to attend the BRICS Summit, where he is scheduled to hold important bilateral meetings with leaders from BRICS member countries.
Key Bilateral Meetings
During the summit, PM Modi will have discussions with key leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. These meetings will take place on the sidelines of the BRICS event, which is the first summit since the grouping expanded during the Johannesburg summit last year.

Importance of BRICS Cooperation
Before his departure, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to BRICS cooperation. He highlighted that BRICS has become an essential platform for addressing global issues such as multilateral reforms, climate change, economic partnerships, and fostering cultural and people-to-people connections. “India values the close cooperation within BRICS,” Modi stated.
Strengthening Ties with Russia
PM Modi also noted that his visit to Kazan would further strengthen the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” between India and Russia, reinforcing ties between the two nations.
