Bengaluru may be renowned for its tech professionals, but its autorickshaw drivers are equally remarkable, often displaying impressive creativity. One driver, for instance, uses a smartwatch to display a QR code for cashless payments. Now, another has taken innovation to the next level by replacing his driver’s seat with a comfortable office chair.
A photo shared by X user Shivani Matlapudi shows the driver sitting on a swivel office chair, providing ergonomic support while he navigates the streets. Matlapudi captioned the viral photo, “Auto driver’s seat had an office chair fixed for extra comfort, man I love Bangalore.”

X users were quick to express their admiration for the upgrade. One called it the “Beauty of Bangalore,” while another joked, “Auto driver simulation game went too far this time.” Many praised the driver’s consideration for his comfort, with comments such as “At least he cares for his posture” and “Back problems are real.”
David Hoang, VP – Head of Design, AI at Atlassian, also chimed in, expressing excitement about his upcoming visit to the city: “I’m going to Bangalore soon and can’t wait to experience it!”
However, not everyone was sold on the idea. Some users raised concerns about the safety implications of swapping out seats. One pointed out potential violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, noting that “Every part needs to be certified, especially those concerning safety,” drawing on their experience working in a German truck manufacturing company’s design department.
