Despite losing vision in one eye due to smallpox during childhood, Ranjit Singh emerged as a formidable leader and military strategist, consolidating a vast Sikh empire, resisting Afghan forces, and challenging British expansion. His administration was inclusive, with Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, and Europeans playing key roles.
