“Scars of Mars”: ESA Unveils Stunning Visuals of Mars; Pictures Go Viral

An incredible post by the European Space Agency (ESA) has recently captivated and amazed people. The post features a series of photos revealing the “scars of Mars,” specifically highlighting a giant crack that spans 600 kilometers. The images show the Aganippe Fossa, a massive fissure that cuts across the side of Arsia Mons, one of Mars’ largest volcanoes.

ESA’s Explanation of the Mars Scars

In the Instagram post, ESA explains, “Unveiling the scars of Mars! This incredible image from our Mars Express shows a giant crack, Aganippe Fossa, slicing across the flank of Arsia Mons, one of Mars’ mightiest volcanoes (dwarfs even Earth’s tallest!).”

ESA further elucidates that scientists believe this extensive gash formed as magma stretched and tore the Martian crust. The post also mentions the intriguing zebra-striped terrain nearby, which suggests the presence of windblown dust and ancient glaciers. The series of pictures shared by ESA vividly displays these scars of the Red Planet.

The post has garnered significant attention, accumulating over 12,000 likes and numerous comments. Instagram users expressed their amazement and appreciation:
