Opposition accused Minister Nagar of misleading; uproar in House over Power Shortages and Bill Hikes

The opposition on Monday cornered the BJP government of the state on the issue of electricity. There was a lot of ruckus once during the question hour and twice during the zero hour. The opposition left no stone unturned to corner the ruling party including Minister Hiralal Nagar. Actually, during the question hour, MLA Indra Meena asked a question on the power crisis. Also asked whether the government has a plan to ensure 24-hour power supply to the farmers. In response to this question, Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar was answering that 22 to 24 hours of electricity is being given to general consumers and 6 hours of electricity to farmers.

During this, when MLA Indra Meena started asking supplementary questions, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie also stood up. Julie said that the minister is misleading the House. At the same time, Indra Meena said that the minister should answer the question, not recite Ramayana here. Meanwhile, the opposition started sloganeering fiercely. Julie said that the answer to the question is wrong. The minister is talking about giving electricity for 22 hours in the answer.

While it is also written in the answer that there is 25 percent less electricity in May and 28 percent less in June, then how are they giving 22 hours of electricity. She said that the Chief Minister had instructed that there should be no power cuts and if there is a power cut, action will be taken against the responsible officers. In such a situation, the minister should tell how many people have been taken action against so far. Julie also said that the Energy Minister had said in Tonk that a wrong MoU was made in the Congress rule regarding electricity, due to which 900 lakh units of electricity have to be returned.

The very next day you were saying in Jaipur that 147 lakh units are being returned. She said that when you are cancelling all the MoUs of the Congress time, then cancel this MoU related to electricity as well.

For the first time in the zero hour on the issue of electricity in the assembly, Congress MLA Amit Chachan raised the issue through an adjournment motion on fuel surcharge. After this, there was a lot of uproar in the house. Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie said that the government has again put the burden of fuel surcharge on the people, it should be abolished. At the same time, once again when Congress MLA Manish Yadav also raised the issue of fuel surcharge, there was uproar in the house again. Manish Yadav ended his speech by raising slogans against the government. Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani asked the Congress MLAs to go to their seats, but the Congress MLAs came to the well and kept raising slogans for a long time.

Responding in the Question Hour, Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar said in the House that the demand for electricity is more at night. In such a situation, we are fulfilling this shortage by purchasing additional electricity. He said that this is a double engine government. We are taking 500 MW extra power from central undertakings. Also, it is being supplied by purchasing it from the exchange. On the supplementary question of the Leader of Opposition, the minister said that there is no 25 percent shortage of electricity, the demand is more than last year. He said that during your time, power plants used to run at 52 percent capacity, we supply electricity by running at 74 percent capacity.
