NEET-UG 2024: SC Halts All High Court Proceedings

The Supreme Court issued a notice regarding a petition filed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to transfer all pleas related to NEET-UG 2024 from various high courts to the apex court. Furthermore, the SC has put a hold on all proceedings in different high courts concerning the alleged leak of the NEET-UG exam question paper.

Additionally, the apex court sent new notices to the Centre and the NTA, requesting their responses to the latest petitions filed by students against NEET-UG. The court also stated that all petitions filed so far will be addressed together on July 8.

It declined to issue any temporary ruling on the matter.

The announcement of the NEET-UG 2024 results on June 4 triggered a considerable backlash from students and their parents. The results faced legal challenges, which highlighted three main concerns.

. First, there were claims that some students received grace marks.

. Second, accusations emerged that the question paper had been leaked before the exam.

. Third, suspicions arose about possible malpractices at specific exam centers.

Supreme Court has once again rejected the request to stop the counseling process for admissions linked to the NEET-UG exam results. The court stated that if the students filing the petition were successful in their legal disputes, it would result in canceling the 2024 exam and the following counseling procedure.

This progress occurred after the session on Tuesday, where a request to annul NEET UG 2024 was discussed. During the discussion, the court noted that the integrity of the exam had been compromised and asked for a response from the National Testing Agency (NTA) on this issue.
