BJP leader Anil Vij recently expressed his desire to become the Chief Minister ahead of the Haryana assembly elections. In response, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that the party’s candidate for the position is the current Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini.

On Sunday, Pradhan, who is overseeing the BJP‘s Haryana election campaign, expressed confidence that the party will win in Haryana for the third consecutive term. He urged the people of Haryana to allow the BJP to continue serving, citing the implementation of various welfare schemes and efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the youth and empower women.

“BJP’s CM candidate is Nayab Singh Saini,” Pradhan stated, adding, “It is certain that the BJP will receive support for the third time in Haryana. The voters should give the BJP another opportunity to serve the state.”

Pradhan also addressed the political climate, suggesting that the Congress party’s approach, particularly regarding corruption, and its alleged anti-Dalit and anti-backward mentality, is becoming increasingly apparent as the elections draw closer. He expressed certainty about the BJP’s victory, stating that these issues will be central in the upcoming elections, and predicted a defeat for the Congress party.

Earlier, Anil Vij, a senior BJP leader and the candidate from the Ambala Cantt Assembly constituency, staked his claim for the Chief Minister’s post. He highlighted his seniority, having contested elections six times, and mentioned that he has not previously asked the party for any position. “I am the senior-most MLA of the BJP in Haryana. On the demand of people, I will claim the position of CM based on my seniority this time,” he said.

Vij, however, acknowledged that the final decision lies with the party’s ‘high command.’ “It is in the hands of the high command whether they will make me CM or not. If they make me the CM, I will change the picture of Haryana,” he added.
