In anticipation of the third consecutive term as India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi commenced the day with a visit to the memorial of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal in Delhi. This solemn act was preceded by a heartfelt homage paid to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, signifying a reverence for India’s historical figures.

The oath-taking ceremony, scheduled for 7:15 PM today, marks a historic milestone as Narendra Modi assumes leadership for the third time, a feat only achieved by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Accompanied by members of his council of ministers, Modi’s swearing-in ceremony symbolizes continuity and commitment to governance.

In a testament to India’s regional diplomacy, leaders from neighboring nations and the Indian Ocean region have been invited as distinguished guests. This inclusive gesture reflects India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, emphasizing the importance of fostering strong ties with neighboring countries.

The event has garnered significant security arrangements, with around 1,100 traffic police personnel deployed to manage traffic movement. Additionally, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers will safeguard the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the venue for the ceremony, ensuring a secure environment for all attendees.

Despite the grandeur of the occasion, opposition leaders have not received formal communication regarding the event. Nonetheless, the significance of Modi’s re-election resonates across party lines, with the BJP securing 240 seats and the NDA alliance clinching 292 seats out of 543 in the Lok Sabha.

In a diverse political landscape, where the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress, and DMK have also secured notable victories, Modi’s leadership stands as a testament to the evolving dynamics of Indian democracy.

As the nation awaits the formal swearing-in, the ceremony promises to be a poignant moment in India’s political history, marking the continuation of Modi’s leadership and the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s journey.
