During a courtesy meeting, Haryana Governor and Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Bandaru Dattatreya congratulated Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva, who was a part of the delegation that went to Spain tour organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), for the success of his visit and expressed hope that in the coming time, due to the MoUs between the universities of Spain and Haryana state, students of Spain will also come to Haryana and get acquainted with the education system and culture here.
During this meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva told Chancellor Bandaru Dattatreya that there are about 80 universities in Spain, out of which 45 are government universities and the rest are private universities. These universities have very good world rankings. During the visit, an MoU was signed with the Crue and Association of Indian Universities (AIU). CRUE is an association of Rectors equivalent to the post of Vice Chancellor in Indian Universities of Spanish Universities.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath told that this entire tour was conducted by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with the help of Spanish Services for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE) and Indian Ambassador to Spain.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya wanted to know how many Indian students are studying there and in which language their academic programmes are conducted, to which KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva told that a large number of Indian students take admission in various courses in Spanish universities.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath said that it is very difficult to get admission there and most of the academic programmes including engineering and management are taught in Spanish language. An official of a university in Spain said that Indian students learn to speak, write and understand Spanish in about 3 months. Now the universities there have also started teaching about 40 percent of their courses in English language.
