The Uttar Pradesh government has secured a deal to host the prestigious MotoGP race event for three consecutive years starting in 2025. The announcement came on Thursday after the state government inked an agreement with Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder for Grand Prix motorcycle racing.

The agreement was formalized between Invest UP and Dorna Sports SL, with Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary and Infrastructure Industrial Development Commissioner of UP, representing the state, and Carmelo Ezpeleta signing on behalf of Dorna. The MotoGP races will take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, which previously hosted the Formula 1 race in 2011 and MotoGP in 2023.

Industry experts believe this move will position Uttar Pradesh as a premier destination for international events and investments. The initiative is expected to unlock significant economic benefits and enhance the state’s global profile. Chief Secretary Singh described the agreement as a monumental development, emphasizing that hosting MotoGP will elevate Uttar Pradesh on the global sports stage and drive economic growth in tourism, hospitality, and related sectors.

The event is anticipated to attract visitors from around the world, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s capability in hosting world-class sporting events. Singh praised Invest UP for its crucial role in securing the agreement and for its plans to professionally promote and execute the MotoGP event.

Invest UP, tasked with driving investments and economic activities, aims to boost Uttar Pradesh’s economy and create numerous job opportunities. With MotoGP drawing international attention annually, Uttar Pradesh is set to showcase its impressive infrastructure and organizational capabilities.

The government has also established a high-powered executive committee to oversee the entire MotoGP event. This committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, includes CEOs of NOIDA, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway Development authorities, as well as the District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar and the Chief Sporting Officer of Dorna Sports. Officials have indicated that an additional high-level executive committee will be formed closer to the event for smoother execution.

An official spokesperson highlighted the collaboration between the UP government and Dorna Sports as a testament to the state’s proactive approach in fostering partnerships that drive economic and cultural prosperity.

Founded in 1988, Dorna Sports holds exclusive commercial and TV rights for leading motorcycle racing championships globally. Based in Madrid, with offices in Barcelona and a subsidiary in Rome, Dorna Sports is a leader in sports management, marketing, and media.
