Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,’ a transformative initiative, with Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha participating virtually from Raj Bhawan, Srinagar.
The Sankalp Yatra kick-started from Budhal, Rajouri, and Gurez, Bandipora, in Jammu & Kashmir, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of people, Panchayati Raj institutions, and government officials.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Lt Governor Sinha commended the launch of outreach activities in tribal districts, marking the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
He lauded the initiative’s objective of extending support to those eligible under various schemes but yet to benefit, emphasizing its potential impact on the socio-economic empowerment of tribal communities, the poor, and the deprived.
The Lt Governor highlighted the UT Administration’s efforts, initiated since August 2019, to prioritize tribal welfare and launch various programs spanning sectors for the empowerment of J&K’s tribal communities.
Calling for collective efforts from citizens, stakeholders, community leaders, social organizations, and the administration, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the focus areas of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, including the elimination of sickle cell anemia, enrollment in EKLAVYA, scholarships, forest rights titles, self-help groups, and Van Dhan Vikas Kendra.
He directed District Commissioners and Administrative officials to prioritize the saturation of Individual Forest Rights.
Beneficiaries from Rajouri and Bandipora shared their experiences through video conferencing, expressing gratitude for the welfare schemes. The occasion also witnessed the administration administering the ‘Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat’ pledge.
In other districts, outreach activities are set to commence in the third week of November. A route plan for IEC Vans has been established, and control rooms at both UT and District levels ensure overall coordination.
