Mississippi Pit Bull Delivers Rare Green Puppy: Named Shrek’s Fionas | WATCH

In an unexpected twist during a recent pit bull birth, a Mississippi couple was taken by surprise when one of their newborn puppies arrived with a green tint. Annise Tooley and Greg Fucich, residents of Hancock County, Mississippi, were thrilled to assist their pregnant pit bull, Pearl, as she welcomed a litter of puppies on November 3. However, the pair was left astonished when they noticed that one of Pearl’s puppies had an unusual green-colored coat, standing out distinctly from her siblings.

An Unusual Hue: A Green Puppy Enters the World

The green puppy, born alongside her white-furred siblings, raised questions for Tooley and Fucich. Initially uncertain about the rare color, they turned to online research, which led them to the term “biliverdin.” Biliverdin, a natural pigment that can occasionally mix with amniotic fluid, can result in a greenish tint on newborn fur. This rare phenomenon, responsible for staining bile and bruises, is believed to be harmless and typically fades over time.

Naming the Unique Pup: Meet Fiona

After discovering similar stories online, Tooley and Fucich decided to name the green puppy Fiona, inspired by the popular character from the Shrek movies. They shared pictures and videos of Fiona on social media, and the adorable green-furred pit bull quickly went viral. Though the couple already has four dogs, they are making arrangements to find new homes for Fiona and her siblings, ensuring each will be well-cared for as they grow.
