On Wednesday, a man was arrested for allegedly killing a minor girl in West Bengal’s Malda district, officials said.
According to police, the arrest was made after the accused confessed to his crime during interrogation. As per the information received from police team, the girl’s body was found in a field in Ujirpur village in Akandaberia in Kalichak police station area on Tuesday. Later, police reached the spot and recovered the dead body and sent it for post-mortem. Officials also visited visited crime spot. On suspicion, we detained 3 persons, during interrogation, one of them confessed to his crime, Pradip Kumar Yadav, SP said.
“The accused revealed during questioning that the victim was seeing someone else and insisted on getting married to her. The accused was already married. The accused decided to get rid of her after continuing to pressure him into marriage, so he killed her, the SP said.
Following the incident, a number of BJP members protested and demanded that the culprits be brought to justice. Additionally, they obstructed Manglabari Bulbuli More’s state highway. To stabilise the situation, a sizable police force had to be stationed nearby.
