Ministry of Labour and Cygnus Ujala Group Sign MoU to Boost Healthcare Employment Opportunities

In a major initiative to enhance employment accessibility in India’s healthcare sector, the Ministry of Labour and Employment and Cygnus Medicare Pvt Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday. The agreement, signed in the presence of Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya and MoL&E Secretary Sumita Dawra, is poised to leverage the National Career Service (NCS) portal as a platform to create increased job opportunities in healthcare.

Union Minister Mandaviya remarked on the importance of the partnership, stating, “The National Career Service (NCS) portal is becoming a key platform for young job seekers, providing access to employment services across sectors. Our partnership with Ujala Cygnus expands this reach in healthcare, helping India’s youth find valuable roles and build promising careers in this field.” The collaboration represents the first direct association between a healthcare group and the NCS, providing a significant boost to healthcare job listings on the platform.

Commitment to Employment Growth: Upcoming MoUs and Platform Enhancements

Mandaviya highlighted that the Ministry has already signed MoUs with Amazon and TMI Group, with 11 additional agreements in the pipeline. These collaborations are expected to generate around 25 lakh job openings on the NCS portal, expanding employment access across various sectors. He also announced that efforts to upgrade the NCS portal are underway, with plans to integrate advanced technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, to offer a more user-friendly experience for job seekers, employers, and stakeholders.

“The NCS portal, with over 35 lakh registered employers and 1.10 crore active job seekers as of October 31, 2024, continues to play a pivotal role in workforce mobilization. Since its inception, it has supported more than 3.46 crore vacancies, with over 1.09 crore reported in the fiscal year 2023-24 alone,” Mandaviya noted. This year, the portal has already recorded over 1 crore vacancies, underscoring its impact on job access across the nation.

Focus on Inclusivity and Localized Opportunities in Healthcare

Under the two-year MoU, Cygnus Ujala Group and its staffing partners will post job vacancies on the NCS portal and recruit through the platform. The collaboration also includes organizing job fairs at Model Career Centers (MCCs) across India, allowing job seekers to engage with Cygnus’s recruitment teams directly. A key focus of the MoU is inclusivity, with the initiative prioritizing employment opportunities for women and fostering an inclusive healthcare workforce.

Through the NCS portal, job seekers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities will gain access to more local healthcare job listings. The NCS already features a dedicated section for healthcare roles, and this MoU is set to further support localized job opportunities for India’s growing healthcare sector workforce.
