Former royal correspondent Michael Cole has criticized Meghan Markle for what he calls “inviting comparison” with Kate Middleton. This comes after Meghan’s friend, Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras, promoted Meghan’s new lifestyle products just before Kate Middleton’s public appearance since her cancer diagnosis, at Trooping the Colour.

(Nacho Figueras, a polo player from Argentina who is friends with Prince Harry and Meghan, promoted Meghan’s new products on Instagram just before the event started. He shared pictures of raspberry jam and dog biscuits that will be sold by Meghan’s brand, American Riviera Orchard.)

Cole, speaking to GBN America, expressed his view on Meghan’s actions: “In everything that Meghan Markle does, she invites a comparison with the Princess of Wales. And I’m afraid in that comparison, Meghan Markle doesn’t come off very well.”

Nana Akua, the host at GBN America, also weighed in, calling the timing of Meghan’s product launch “very odd” and suggesting it might have been intentional to overshadow Kate’s event. Cole further questioned Meghan’s motives, saying, “Are they so desperate for cash that they have to bring out a retail line of jams and other things which we can all do without? It’s a mystery to me.”

Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams commented on Meghan and Harry missing the Trooping the Colour event for the second time, speculating that Meghan might not attach much importance to such ceremonies. Fitzwilliams stated, “I think Meghan would be indifferent to a ceremony like Trooping the Colour quite frankly. If it had meant a great deal to her, she would have managed to carve a position within the Royal Family where she could have been of use.”

The timing of Meghan’s product launch has sparked debate and raised questions about the dynamics between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, continuing to fuel public interest in their ongoing narrative.
