An election of firsts in Jammu and Kashmir is set to see another – a woman Kashmiri Pandit will be contesting the Assembly polls for the first time in three decades. Aarti Nehru, who owns a private company in Delhi, is the Independent candidate from once hot bed of terror activities Sopore constituency.

In 1990, many Kashmiri Pandits were killed in Sopore area, many houses of KP’s were burnt, but today Aarti has decided to contest elections from Sopore.

Aarti hold a massive Tanga (Cart) rally in downtown area of Sopore, Arti told itv network that she decided to take the plunge because she was forced to do so by youth, who wanted her to be their voice. During the rally, muslim women of downtown were also part of her Tanga (Cart) rally.

Talking to us exclusively, Aarti said that she wants to develop Sopore, she wants to give employment to the youth of Sopore, for which she has entered the field. Aarti says that she is walking fearlessly in the downtown areas of sopore, there is no fear.

There was a time when people were afraid to go to Sopore attacks on civilians, security forces & encounters had become a daily routine, but now Sopore has changed.

People in the downtown area of ​​Sopore are giving love to Aarti and Aarti is telling people of Sopore about how she will take Sopore on the path of development.

Aarti is a Kashmiri Pandit girl and she is trying to attract people by telling her Manifesto in Kashmiri language.

Arti told us that people need to think about what happened in 1990, now that the situation has changed in Kashmir, people should also change their thinking and choose the right representative who will work for change & development.

Rayees Ahmad a resident from Sopore while talking to us told us that till now we have given chance to other people but they have completely failed to develop sopore. We should give chance to Aarti. She wants to work for youth and upliftment of sopore, Aarti should also get a chance

The assembly elections in Sopore are being held on September 25. Arti hopes that this time the people of Sopore will not boycott but will help Aarti to win.
