At least four people were injured after a LPG gas cylinder godown caught fire in Versova area of Mumbai on Wednesday. The fire incident took place in the gashouse at around 10 in the morning. The news of several cylinder blasts came out in this fire accident. All the injured people in the massive fire at HP Gas Cylinderhouse on Yari Road, Versova were admitted to Cooper Hospital where they are undergoing treatment. All the four people who suffered burns and injuries are said to be laborers working in the gas godown.
At the same time, 14 fire engines had reached the spot and the fire personnel continued to control the fire for about 3 hours. The fire was controlled at around 1 in the afternoon. A team of NDRF also reached the spot. There were 16 fire engines to douse off the fire which expanded till the entire gas godown.
Assistance of 8 fire engines and 7 jumbo water tankers were taken to control the fire. However, the cause of the fire has not been known so far. After the fire incident took place, there had been several reactions of people on social media. Many Twitter users said that flames and smoke pangs are seen all around. The warehouse is near the residential building, due to which people were afraid. The fire has been recorded by BMC at Level 2.
This is not the first time a fire has erupted in the Versova area. Earlier, a fourth floor of a building in Versova caught fire. Fire brigade vehicles arrived on the spot immediately and an attempt was made to douse the fire. This incident was recorded at Level 1. It is noteworthy that this is a fourth fire incident in the last 2 days in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
