Manoj Bajpayee is elated as his family drama ‘Gulmohar’ won three National Film Awards on Friday. The 70th National Film Awards winners were announced in the national capital, with the jury comprising Rahul Rawail as Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury, Nila Madhab Panda as Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury, and Gangadhar Mudalair as Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury.
*Gulmohar* received the Best Hindi Film award, along with a Special Mention and Best Screenplay. In an exclusive ANI interview, Manoj expressed his joy, stating, “It is such a big achievement for the entire team and the director, whose first movie won three national awards.”
Other films like the Malayalam *Kadhikan*, *Ponniyin Selvan Part-1*, and Sanjoy Salil Chowdhury also received Special Mentions. Directed by Rahul V. Chittella, *Gulmohar* centers on the Batra family’s emotional journey as they prepare to leave their 34-year-old family home, exploring their deep-seated familial bonds. The film features performances by Sharmila Tagore, Simran, and Suraj Sharma.
