The Manipur government has extended the suspension of internet and mobile data services in five districts until September 20. The State’s Home Department issued an order for this extension, which includes services like VSATs and VPNs in the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bisnupur, and Kakching.

The initial ban on internet services began on September 10 and was intended to last for five days. However, due to the current law and order situation, the government decided to prolong the suspension.

On September 13, DIG Manish Kumar Sachar of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) visited Thangkanphai village in Kangpokpi district and the Songpehjang relief camp in Saikul Hilltown. He interacted with representatives of the Kuki community. According to DIG Sachar, over 100 families are currently residing in the relief camp, expressing a desire to return to their normal lives.

They recovered a substantial amount of arms, ammunition, and other warlike materials. The operation was based on specific intelligence regarding the Maulsang area, resulting in the recovery of a 7.62mm AK Series Assault Rifle with a magazine, three medium-sized improvised mortars (Pompi), and other warlike stores.
