A distressing event unfolded in Belawan village, located in Bihar’s Kaimur district, where a 23-year-old man was brutally killed on Friday night reportedly due to a suspected romantic relationship. His lifeless body was discovered with a slit throat at a temple in Sonara village near Belawan the following Saturday morning, as verified by law enforcement authorities.
Identified as Pankaj Kumar, the victim was said to have been romantically involved with a girl from their village, who had recently married in Maharashtra. His family stumbled upon his lifeless body on Saturday morning after he did not return home the previous Friday evening.
Upon being informed about the incident, the police promptly arrived at the scene and gathered statements from the deceased’s relatives. The relatives demanded the apprehension of those accountable and resisted the removal of the body.
Following the intervention of senior officials, the body was transported to the Bhabua Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, with assurances of taking action against the perpetrators.
The victim’s family was informed about the incident by locals around 6 am on Saturday and accused the girl’s family of involvement in the murder.
“He left around 4 pm, bought vegetables, and sent them home with a child. When he didn’t return, we searched for him until midnight, assuming he was with friends,” said his paternal aunt.
Bhabua SDPO Shiv Shankar Kumar stated that the young man was purportedly murdered over a romantic involvement, and authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with the crime.
“As per information received by us, the youth was murdered in the temple premises on Friday night. Two suspected individuals have been arrested by us. Further probe is underway,” said the SDOP.
