Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for securing victory in the 2024 general elections, marking their third consecutive term. Maldives President Muizzu expressed eagerness to collaborate with PM Modi to further mutual interests and enhance the prosperity of both nations.

Taking to social media platform X, President Muizzu shared his felicitations, acknowledging the success of PM Modi, the BJP, and the BJP-led NDA in the Indian General Election. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts in advancing shared interests towards fostering stability and prosperity for India and the Maldives.

The congratulatory messages poured in from other global leaders as well, with Nepal PM Pranchanda, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth extending their best wishes to PM Modi and the BJP-led NDA government on their resounding victory.

The BJP-led NDA secured its third successive government at the Centre, despite winning fewer seats than expected. The final tally of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections revealed the BJP winning 240 seats, while the Opposition Congress secured 99 seats, notably close to the 100-seat mark. This election marked a historic moment as the BJP, for the first time since 2014, did not secure a majority on its own.

In his address following the election results, PM Modi attributed the victory to the collective efforts towards the development of a prosperous India, underlining the principles of inclusivity and development encapsulated in the motto ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’. He noted that the BJP-led NDA’s third successive term marked a significant milestone in Indian political history, echoing the sentiments of national progress and unity.

PM Modi also highlighted the strength of the BJP-led alliance, emphasizing that despite the consolidation of opposition parties, their collective strength fell short of the BJP’s tally, demonstrating the continued trust of the people in the governance and vision of the ruling party.
