Mahua Moitra Debunks Misinformation In RG Kar Hospital Rape-Murder Case

Moitra’s clarification followed her recent denial of claims suggesting a “systemic cover-up” of the case. She outlined several key points to correct the record: Clarifying the 150 Grams Claim: Moitra addressed reports referring to “150 grams of bodily fluids,” explaining that this figure actually represents the combined weight of the victim’s internal and external genitalia, not fluid volume.

In response to the growing protests and public fury over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at R G Kar Government Medical College and Hospital, TMC MP and national spokesperson Mahua Moitra took to social media on Friday to address misconceptions and “bust myths and fake propaganda.”

Moitra’s clarification followed her recent denial of claims suggesting a “systemic cover-up” of the case. She outlined several key points to correct the record:

  1. Clarifying the 150 Grams Claim: Moitra addressed reports referring to “150 grams of bodily fluids,” explaining that this figure actually represents the combined weight of the victim’s internal and external genitalia, not fluid volume. She emphasized that bodily fluids are measured in milliliters, urging media outlets to verify facts before reporting.
  2. Crime Scene Integrity: Regarding allegations of tampering with the crime scene, Moitra asserted that the location has been sealed off with only police and CBI access. She firmly stated that there has been no unauthorized interference.
  3. Construction Work Concerns: Mahua Moitra dispelled rumors about construction work at the crime scene, explaining that the health secretary addressed a need for additional toilets at the hospital. The construction took place in a separate area chosen by students and did not affect the crime scene.
  4. Inquiry Committee Clarification: She also debunked reports of an inquiry into the victim’s mental health. Moitra clarified that a five-member inquiry committee was established as per standard operating procedure (SOP) to review any potential hospital lapses, not to investigate the victim’s condition.

Moitra’s statements aim to provide clarity and counter the misinformation circulating about the tragic incident, underscoring the importance of accurate reporting and procedural transparency.
