According to Election Commission data, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is currently leading in 24 seats, while the INDIA bloc is ahead in 22 seats. Union Minister and BJP candidate from Nagpur Lok Sabha seat, Nitin Gadkari leading from the seat with a margin of 37,863 votes.
Notably, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has secured its first seat with Imtiaz Jaleel Syed winning in Aurangabad. In individual contests, Union Minister Piyush Goyal holds the lead in Mumbai North, while Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is maintaining a significant margin over her sister-in-law and opponent Sunetra Pawar.
With the spotlight on 289 counting centers across 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti alliance (comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena led by CM Eknath Shinde, and NCP led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (led by Sharad Pawar’s NCP, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, and the Congress) are engaged in a fierce battle for political dominance. Exit polls have buoyed the hopes of the Opposition, with most predicting 23 to 32 seats for the NDA and 16 to 25 seats for the INDIA bloc.
Among the 1,121 candidates in contention, notable figures include Union ministers Nitin Gadkari (Nagpur seat), Piyush Goyal (Mumbai North), Narayan Rane (Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg), Raosaheb Danve (Jalna), Bharti Pawar (Dindori), and Kapil Patil (Bhiwandi). However, one of the most closely watched contests is unfolding in Baramati, where Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar and incumbent NCP MP, is facing off against her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar, wife of Ajit Pawar, who orchestrated a split in the NCP last year.
