Maharashtra: Congress promises to increase ‘Ladki Bahin Scheme’ amount if voted to power

Maharashtra senior Congress OBC leader and LoP Vijay Wadettiwar on Monday announced ro increase the amount of ‘Ladki Bahin Scheme’ from the current Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 in the state if voted.to power.
He made the remarks after filing his nomination papers from Brahmpuri assembly seat in Maharashtra on Monday. He filed his nomination from Bramhapuri constituency in the presence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and AICC observer incharge of Vidarbha, Bhupesh Baghel.
In his nomination rally, Wadettiwar while attacking the government on various issues from corruption to inflation, promised that the Congress government if voted to power, will increase the amount for ‘Ladki Behan’ scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500.
He also pointed out the issues of the OBC community, vowing to stand by and protect the interests of the community.
Baghel while addressing the rally congratulated Wadettiwar and the people of Maharashtra for successfully defending the Constitution from BJP’s assault and restricting BJP to below 240, referring to it as a trailer before the film on 20 November. Wadettiwar is a 2 term MLA from Bramhapuri, representing the constituency since 2014. Before that, he represented Chimur constituency for 3 terms. He is one of the senior most leaders of the Congress in Maharashtra and has been appointed LoP twice. He is expected to play a critical role in grand old party’s campaign across the state, especially in Vidarbha.
Polling for 288 member assembly polls is scheduled on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23.
Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Tata-Airbus’ project in Gujarat, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Monday criticised the Mahayuti coalition for allowing the project to slip away from the state to Gujarat. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Patole said: “Maharashtra’s reputation as a premier destination for foreign investment has been severely undermined by the corrupt Mahayuti coalition.”
